Miniature violinist
Maiko Tsutsumi is a classically trained violinist and vocalist from Fukuoka, Japan. She began playing the violin at just three years old and made her international debut on a European concert tour at the age of eight. A graduate of Musashino Academia Musicae and Fukuoka University of Education, Maiko has built a rich career that bridges both tradition and innovation.
Her performances span a wide range of collaborations, from solo recitals to creative projects with Japanese traditional instruments, ballet, and classical dance. In 2009, she founded Qualia Production, a music agency dedicated to bringing energy and inspiration to her hometown of Fukuoka through music.
Since 2010, Maiko has also captivated audiences worldwide as the only professional miniature violin performer, playing an 8-inch handcrafted instrument created by master luthier Hideki Shiraishi. Her unique artistry has been featured on major television programs such as Sekai no Hate Made Itte Q and THE TIME.
